Renting a car is one of the best ways to see Dubai. The city is spread out along the coast, taxis add up quickly and some of the most spectacular places — the mountains of Hatta and Jebel Jais, the desert roads, Abu Dhabi — are much easier to reach with your own wheels. And renting a luxury car here is an experience in itself.
Can tourists drive in Dubai?
Yes. Visitors with a licence from the EU, UK, USA, Canada, Australia and many other countries can usually drive a rental car in Dubai with their home licence. Drivers from other countries generally need an International Driving Permit alongside their licence. We confirm what you need when you book; our licence guide and guide to driving in Dubai as a tourist explain the details.
What you need to rent
- Passport and valid driving licence (plus an IDP if required).
- Minimum age 21, or 25 for supercars.
- A refundable security deposit, which can be left in crypto or by card.
